"The Quartet offers authentic, intelligent, smartly structured Swing, effect fully played and harmonically constructed. Self composed titles like "April Feelings" offer insight into the virtuosity, the skill and the passionate playing of this Quartet". That was the newspaper review by the Schwabacher Tagblatt about a concert given by Thilo Wolf and his Quartet at the "Kulturzentrum Jegelscheune".
During the "Blaue Nacht 2007", a Mega Festival at Nuremberg with far more than 120 000 visitors, Thilo Wolf's Quartet and its guest Joan Faulkner brought the audience to continuous raving ovations.
The Thilo Wolf Quartet is composed of Norbert Nagel and Axel Kuhn (Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute) who appear alternately; Markus Schieferdecker (Bass), Paul Höchstädter (Drums) and Thilo Wolf on Piano.
This is a highly coordinated ensemble. Adding Andreas Blüml on Guitar, the Quartet becomes a Quintet.
On the occasion of the "Spitzen Jazz Festival" of top formations, the "Plauener Zeitung" wrote about the Thilo Wolf Quartet: "Piano, saxophone, bass and drums - the Thilo Wolf Quartet needs only these four "things" to make a regular day into an extraordinary event". "Hörzu", a TV magazine reported on the TV airing of the Thilo Wolf Quintet at the Jazz Festival "Swing in the Park": "More than 5 000 jazz fans were enraptured".
The virtuosity of its musicians does not simply recommend this ensemble for traditional jazz festivals. During July 2002, the Thilo Wolf Quintet was on tour with the Windsbacher Knabenchor (Windsbacher Boys Choir) and performed at renowned classic festivals, such as "MDR Musiksommer" and "Rheingau Festival". The combination of the Quintet and Choir is unique in its constellation.
