"SWING IT" - Special:
20 Years Thilo Wolf Big Band and Guests
In 2012, the Thilo Wolf Big Band celebrates its 20th anniversary. For this reason two concerts took place at the Fürth Theater on the 1st and 2nd February 2012. The Big Band showed it's enormous musical variety. The public experienced the finest of powerful, swinging Big Band Jazz as well as innovative and extraordinary compositions. Guest stars had been Charly Antolini (drums), Jutta Czurda (vocals), Caroline Kiesewetter (vocals), Carsten Nagel (classic bassoon meet big band) and "The Skibbe Band" (rock-trio meets big band).
The event was recorded for later airing on Bavarian Radio an TV. Also there will be a CD and a DVD published in 2012 with the best tracks.
History
"SWING IT" is a concert series with Thilo Wolf and his Big Band as host. From its start in 1992, "SWING IT" has been recorded for airing on Bavarian Television and Bavarian Radio. By the way, in 2002 "SWING IT" was named "The Best Jazz Broadcast of the Year" by "Swinging Hamburg e.V.", a society dedicated to preserve and promote Jazz.
"SWING IT" was created by Klaus Häffner, Director, Nuremberg Studios of Bavarian Broadcasting and by Thilo Wolf. It is being presented every other year in cooperation with the Culture Council of the City of Fürth and Stadthalle Fürth (Townhall). "SWING IT" is also one of the high lights of "BR Musikzauber-Franken" (Bavarian Broadcasting Magic Music - Franconia), a cultural initiative which combines music events in Franconia under one roof.
"SWING IT" is not a sophisticated "elite" jazz festival. However it moulds best known national and international jazz soloists of different colours with the Thilo Wolf Big Band into a unique musical experience on stage, which is dominated by the musicians' and artists' joy to performing.
